I'm looking for "latches", but I don't know what kind I want.

by Brian Steeves 18 May 2017

Sometimes, when I'm working on a project, I have an idea of the type(s) of hardware I might need, but we're not clear on the details.  For example, imagine you're building a toolbox and you need a latch to keep the lid closed.  You head to the hardware store, only to discover that there's a wide range of latches that might work for you.  How do you pick one?  How do you even find them in the store? Fortunately, many stores have their aisles organized in such a way so that you can find things relatively easily. The hardware store will have sections for plumbing, electrical, lighting, etc.  Our store does the same.  Our products are sorted into useful groups that help you find the things you need, using things like Collections.

CATALOG vs. COLLECTIONS

You could search through our vast catalog of products, if you had all day.  The Catalog is great for browsing, and seeing the types of products we carry in a more-or-less organized way, it's just ALL of the products in one listing.

To make the catalog listing more "focused", you can click on any of the product tags on the left side of the screen.  The catalog list will be filtered using the tags you pick.

A better way to search if you want to see real options is to use the COLLECTIONS tool.  Collections are automatically sorted lists of products based on their product type, description and tags.  Want to see all the products we have that are made of Stainless Steel?  How about all the plastic parts?  Maybe all the Hinges?  EASY!  You can check out the list of collections we have my clicking on the COLLECTIONS link at the top of this page.

If you're not 100% sure what you need, this is a great place to see the options you have.  Then, if you still need help choosing from there, call us or email us and we'll guide you the rest of the way.

If you'd like an even better way to search through our products, you can use keyword searches.  Click HERE to see some cool tips on how to use Keyword searches.
